Apologies in advance for the audio—I recorded this outside. Anyway, I’m opting for the first idea that I had! I think there’s a lot of potential to explore aspects of perfectionism and self-doubt with this story! Thank you guys for all of the wonderful feedback! It’s definitely helped me flesh out this idea and explore diff aspects of where the story can go!
Here’s the rundown of Piper (for those who are having a hard time understanding me—I was speaking kinda fast in some parts):
This is Piper.
She’s been drawing ever since she was 4 and never stopped. Her true passion is creating meaningful, touching art that will outlive her, but her main issue is that she gets too wrapped up in being perfect— she’s a hardcore perfectionist, much like myself unfortunately.
She’s burned out and doesn’t have fun making art anymore. Very much inspired, very little motivation. Piper doesn’t mind trying new things and is very persistent, until she isn’t.
What she wants most is to let loose and have fun creating again like she did when she was a kid. She wants to create without the fear of messing up and being harshly judged.
What stops Piper from getting what she wants is artistic burnout brought on by her own perfectionism.
What she needs to learn is that nothing in life is perfect—literally nothing. She isn’t perfect, the world isn’t perfect and art isn’t perfect either. She needs to understand that art is subjective and in order to have fun with it like she did as a child, she needs to stop leaning so heavily on other peoples’ opinions, her own self-criticism and to just create from her heart.
Thanks for watching! :o)
