Hi guys!

Please don't hold back on feedback! I've never crafted a story this in-depth before, so I want to know if anything seems convoluted, or if anything doesn't make sense!

Here's a transcript of Piper's Story :o)

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Piper who LOVED to draw. Drawing and creating things was her absolute favorite thing to do.

Everyday Piper drew whatever she wanted to draw, whenever she wanted to draw it— (well, except when she couldn’t of course). Piper had fun creating and wasn’t worried about being perfect because she was content with her work. She loved it because it made her happy.

Until one day Piper grew up, went to middle school— then high school— and then college—and started to become more and more self conscious— not only with herself, but with her art too. Comparison introduced itself into her life and with it, came perfectionism. Piper started comparing her artwork to others and began to be consumed with self-doubt and that same perfectionism that came into her life those years ago. She started drawing less and less until she eventually became burned out and stopped— she lost the spark that drove her to draw in the first place, all those years ago.

Because of that, Piper decides that maybe drawing isn’t her thing anymore. Maybe she should try something else. Perhaps something that could possibly bring her spark back— or a new spark! And so, she tries light-painting! She grabs a camera, and some glow sticks and gives it a try, but inevitably allows her perfectionism to get the best of her, yet again.

Because of that, she decides to pack it up, go home and look for something else to get her spark back. Just before she leaves and heads home, her “mess up” comes to life! Piper is enamored— she can’t believe that something she “messed up” on could be so beautiful and full of life— and hers!

Because of that, she stays and continues making light paintings, all imperfect, but beautiful attempts. They all come to life and show her just how beautiful letting go and just creating for fun can be!

Until finally, Piper realizes that it was never about changing mediums or searching for other ways to create— it was always about letting herself be free from the restraints she was putting on herself. It was always about allowing herself to have fun without having to compare her work to others. It was always about letting herself be free to create whatever she wanted without the need to be perfect.

And ever since then, Piper attempts to create with her heart and tries to not be consumed with her own deep desire to be perfect. She leans into the fun side of creating and has even taken up a hobby of light painting for fun! She slowly gets her spark back, one attempt at a time.

The moral of the story is, create with your heart. Have fun, let loose and don’t let the desire to compare or be perfect get in your way. Art is subjective and creating because you love to create is more than enough :o)

Hope you all enjoy!
