What if...SANTA was going to die, because people didn’t believe in him?

Outside:
Same Santa we know, but more stoic, and warn out.

INSIDE:
He feels heart broken that people stopped believing he was real. He feels his purpose in life is gone, he feels useless and unwanted. Now that mrs Clause, his elves and reindeer are gone, he feels lonely. Inside he is scared of death, now that the end is near, feels he has done nothing good with his life.

WANTS:
To have one last Hurrah and go out with a bang. He’s never been able to see kids open his gifts, so he wants to finally see the joy and smile on their faces when they open their final present form Santa. He wants to feel loved and needed one last time, to know he’s lived a worthy life, so he can make peace with not being needed and move on to join his loved ones in the after life.

OBSTACLE:
He hasn’t got any of his helpers anymore and feel’s he can’t do it as he feels weak and useless. Part of him doesn’t want to do it, because he’s scared of death, doing it means accepting he his fate. Without his reindeer, he has to walk instead of fly, through the winter cold. Eventually he does give gifts to the kids, but they are not impressed. They don’t believe it’s from Santa, but from a distant relative.

Needs:
Learn he is not useless. Times change, but that’s okay. Even though people no longer believe in Santa, his impact on the festive season, will always be felt, and live on every time a gift is given during this time. To realise, it’s not that he’s not needed, it’s that he’s given humans the best final gift, the ability to create the magic of Christmas themselves. He needs to “be willing to get rid of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us” quote Joseph Campbell.
