Embraced is a short story exploring what it would be like if a girl who becomes physically disabled, loses her ability to fly. Embraced follows our main character Aixa as she grows from a young , curious , and excited little girl into a young adult woman who is challenged physically and emotionally throughout her childhood into adulthood as she navigates a scoliosis diagnosis, and her limited treatment options. Aixa begins to lose her ability to fly in the real world as she becomes discouraged about navigating her disability. With time, self love, and a visit from her inner child she learns that her ability to soar does not come from her physical strength, but rather the light she finds within herself.
