Moral: As technology advances, human beings will get sucked into virtual worlds. However, one should never lose touch with reality.

Once upon a time there lived a dog named Ruby. Ruby was the last dog on his planet and there was no human to take care of her. This made him very sad.

The reason behind empty streets was that people lost interest in the real world as they were spending a lot of time in virtual reality worlds. They built dungeons for themselves and would never leave their houses. The entire world was changed in a way that the robots were growing and delivering food and did the jobs that humans used to do. Humans lost touch with reality. The world looked lifeless and everything looked very gloomy and dull everywhere.

Every day Ruby spent hours and hours searching every corner of every city and town looking for a human to care for him. Until one day, he got tired and stopped looking. Ruby felt that there was no one left.Ruby started feeling sad and lonely and depressed. These feelings were new feelings to Ruby. Ruby started spending a lot of time just sleeping and getting dirty as she was not taking care of herself.

One day, as Ruby was walking she came across a mirror and saw herself and saw how shabby she had become. She realized that the quest of finding someone everyday is what kept her excited and joyful and when she gave up on hope everything became miserable.

Ruby started to search again and one day as she was walking down a silent street she got a peak into a window. A man had emerged out of his dungeon and was walking around with a VR headset. Ruby got really excited and started to bark but the man could not hear.

Ruby realized that she had lost her bark as she had not barked in a long time. She needed to imagine that barking is a superpower and she had to get it back. So for days she would try to bark and come back to this same house as the man was usually in his living room once per day. Days passed and the bark got louder and louder and one day she barked the loudest any dog had barked and the man in VR heard it.

He saw Ruby from his window and could not believe what he was seeing. He ran outside and picked up Ruby and realized the dog was very weak. He rushed him to the hospital and got her taken care of. He soon sensed that Ruby was disheartened by the rejection so he came up with a brilliant plan.

He organized an auction called “The Last Dog on this Planet” and sent the message via VR. Many people have never seen a real dog in ages or any animal. Thousands of people flocked to the auction and started auctioning for Ruby. Ruby saw so many people wanting her and that started to heal her broken heart. This is what the VR man wanted to show Ruby that she is still loved and wanted. Even though the man could have made millions he did no give Ruby away but he encouraged people to spend time out of VR. People realized what they were missing and now were searching every to find more pets. To their amazement they found a lonely pet island where all the last pets had retreated and both the humans and animals were so happy to find each other. Every single one of the animals was adopted and people started spending more time in the real world. The real world came back to life and all because one little dog named Ruby never gave up on hope.
