Kindred Stone

Once upon a time in Africa there was a stone created by the strong bond of a boy and an African Stripe mice.

Everyday both the boy and the mice would do everything together and their love grew more and more. Until one day they both became old and the old man was dying. With his last words the old man promised the mice that his love would go even beyond death and the mice understood that he also didn’t want to live without his best friend. Because of their strong bond both the man and the mice’s soul became one into a stone.
After a long time the stone let itself be found by Archeologist Charles Camo 1st. The stone gave him a glimpse of the secret behind its creation and it entrusted him to keep its power safe passing it down through generations. The Camo clan eventually began to blindly disregard their relationships to protect the "Kindred Stone." This made the family distant from each other and their relationship superficial. As an only child descendant, Charles Camo 20th only had himself and his pet Chameleon. One day when everyone at Camo Manor were sleeping, Savanna sought to claim the "kindred Stone" for herself but Charles and his Chameleon tried to protect it. The little Chameleon jumped unto the stone while Charles stood in front, but Savanna easily shoved him to the floor and soon after her big hands squashed his Chameleon into the stone. With the stone gone, the Camo clan fell apart and without purpose in life leaving defenseless young Charles Camo 20th even more lonely with the death of his friend. His heart became dark and that nurtured his broken side, and so the stone cracked reflecting the Camo Clan's broken bonds. This created an imbalance in nature causing humanity to turn into a type animal depending on their personalities when they have a strong emotional response.

Because of that Charles raised himself through emotional hardship always relying only on himself and knew he could not depend or trust on anybody but himself. Just like the "Kindred Stone" he shut his heart from the world and became selfish and self-serving. Charles adapted the ways of the chameleon constantly changing personalities to deceive those around him obtaining everything he wanted, things he could not buy with his fortune. He didn't want anyone to know his animal form because that would mean people would know he is camouflaging his true self from the world. And so he occasionally disguised himself behind the image of a "vulnerable" old man to steal people's affection through trust and by looking through the window of their soul; their eyes.


Because of that Charles Camo 20th meets young adult Archeologist Jacky to set on their journey to retrieve the Kindred Stone from Savanna who is now a Vipera Seoane Snake. Charles explained that he wanted to retrieve the stone as it was a family heritage and was entrusted to protect it, but Jacky knew that Mr. Camo only wanted it for himself as he never spoke about his family.

Because of that through spending time with Jacky, Charles began to crack the shell around his heart. Jacky shared to him how fortune he was that he knew and had a family unlike him not knowing where he is from and being left behind at a convent. Jacky was raised full of care with all his convent brothers and sisters but he still felt empty. He felt like he still didn't belong. Aside from all the sadness in his heart, Jacky was still a cheerful lad. He saw the world with his noble heart.


Until finally, when the stone was found, Charles learned that the curse within himself would only be vanquished through acceptance and sacrifice of a noble heart. Jacky's death by Savanna made him realize of the sacrifice he did for him when finding the stone. Charles could not bear to loose another loved one and so he felt in the deepest of his heart that he only wanted to save Jacky even if he could not vanquish his curse. Charles accepted that he was bitter and lonely and he realized that he could not give up Jacky just to save himself. And so the stone shattered releasing the souls of the two friends vanishing into the distance. Their bonds reflected that of the two that created the "Kindred Stone".

And ever since then, Charles Camo 20th shares happy years of life next to Jacky Camo at Camo Manor.


The mortal of the story is that love can come from anyone and that doesn’t mean you have to be related. It can be your best friend, your pet, it can also be the people you grow up with and that is the family you choose. Even if loved ones are gone it doesn’t mean you are alone.
