Itan wants to be a great writer, so she wins a contest to become the Apprentice to Madame Kudaisi. However, Kudaisi only berates Itan, making her feel she isn't good enough. One night Itan sneaks into Madame Kudaisi's study, only to find an Octopus named Alo locked up in a large Tank. It turns out Kudaisi is a fraud and all her books were written by Alo, using her Octopus ink and Magical horn. However since Alo's powers were almost gone, Kudaisi looked for an aspiring writer to be her apprentice, so she could steal their stories once more. Itan and Alo escape from Kudaisi after a brief skirmish. Kudaisi's lies are exposed to the world, and Itan and Alo go on to live fruitful lives.
