Lachlan is a boy who enjoys drawing. As he got older he receieved less praise which discouraged him from sharing his art and looking postively at his own art. He continues to draw but looses motivation and interest as nothing is turning out the way he envisioned it. He wishes that his art would turn out the way he saw it in his head, and the pencil he draws with begins to sparkle with life. When he tries to draw again, his art seems to come to life. Now motivated once again, he continues drawing. His friends who previously critiqued his art see the art world Lachlan’s created and praise him for it, and all the effort he’d put in to refind his love of art. They wish they could stay in his art world forever, and the story ends with the pencil once again glowing.
