Once upon a time, a young woman named Lune is out celebrating her 25th birthday with friends and family. Her loved ones bombard her with overwhelming questions. “When are you going to give someone a chance? You need a good job. Even though it’s not your dream job, I know my workplace is hiring! ” Pressure and anxiety make her mind go blank. A small strain of hair lifts from her ponytail. Every morning after that night, Lune wakes up and goes to her mirror and notices her hair is an absolute mess! Mats and cowlicks make her exclaim in shock. She tries to comb it and tame it, only somewhat succeeding. she wakes up this way, wondering what is happening. What is causing For over a year now, her to wake up with a disaster on her head? Until one day, on the morning of an important job interview and a blind date set up by a friend, she once again wakes up with messy hair, but has to go to a professional. Because of that, she makes a quick trip to a nearby salon, but realizes they’re closed when she gets there. Other salons near her are closed or booked up as well, and she is defeated. As she stares at the hopeless mess in the reflection of the salon, she also sees someone pick-pocketing an old man who does not notice the crime happening behind him. The man in the hood stealing from this poor old man seems familiar... as if she had seen him the night before in a strange dream where she kicked his butt in hand-to-hand combat. Wait... WAS it a dream? Because of that, she shouts at him, “Hey you! Give that back!” The thief is startled. His expression changes from a sly smirk to a one of fear. Lune starts walking towards him, but he bolts. She chases after him. They run for a couple of blocks until the thief crashes into a biker. Lune rushes to make sure the biker is okay while the thief groans in pain on the ground. Lune firstly scolds him about stealing from vulnerable people, and secondly asks if they have met before. He teases her, saying she must have forgotten after he knocked her out last night. Lune is at a loss for words and doesn’t even notice that the thief is running off again.
Because of that, she goes to the neighborhood park. A small park surrounded by local shots and markets. She notices a “smile, you’re on camera” sign in front of one of the stores. She goes in to ask the clerk if she could watch any footage from last night’s surveillance. As the clerk shows her, she notices that in the small corner of the frame, she sees herself fighting the thief, he throws a punch and hits her in the face, right where her bruise is. By the end, the thief gets away. Lune, with her eyes closed, walks away almost zombie-like. “Is that- Is that me?” She says. She watches as the fight unfolds, and surely enough, the thief knocks her out with a log. She is upset that the reason her hair is always messed up is because she sleepwalks and fights crime at night. The old lady comforts her saying that we all feel lost at this age and she felt the same way when she was 25, but accomplished so much later in life. One will find their own time.
Finally, Lune goes home, realizing she’s a confident crime-fighting sleepwalker at night. She takes a look at herself in the mirror once more and decides to continue her adventures. She smiles and lets her hair go free.
The moral of the story is to take your time in your life. There is no timeline or due date for the goals society expects you to achieve. Take your time with your goals and be confident and enjoy where you are now.
