In a world where love rules, Blake, whose pronouns are they/them, is your typical average salesperson. Except they work at CupidFinds, a company dedicated to helping people find their significant others through a variety of services.

In this world, everyone will fall in love at some point in their lives. It is a fundamental law. People’s love lives are so important that they even get to have an annual physical check up for that. There is a meter to measure how healthy and active you are when it comes to dating.

Blake works in the department of marriage registration because it does not require a lot of brain cells and emotional labor.

At home, Blake does not have a social life because most of their friends are too busy spending time with their significant others so they like to watch movies at home.

But one thing that makes Blake different is that they have never been in a relationship before. In fact, they never dated so they can’t really relate to most people.

At CupidFinds, employees are rewarded for their work performances like any other big corporate company in this capitalist world.

One day, Blake starts to struggle and their sales decline. They get called into the higher up office, “Look Blake, you have one month to get your shizzles together otherwise you can pack your stuff and go”

Blake gets moved over to the department of divorce. Rumors about Blake go around the workplace. People are wondering how they even got a job at CupidFinds if they never dated. They keep their distance from Blake.

Blake decides to go to the doctor thinking maybe there really is something wrong with them. “Am I broken?” The doctor listens to Blake’s trouble and hands them a black card. “Don’t tell anyone about this. Go to this address.”

One night, Blake goes to the address stated on the card and finds themselves at a casino. It seemed like an ordinary casino. They go in and inquire about the black card and next thing you know, they get knocked out and wake up to being strapped to a chair in the basement.

Turns out the casino is secretly run by a group of underground people called the ACE society. And they seem to not develop attraction to other people the same way as everyone else and are disregarded by the rest of society.

So, who are you? And what is your motive for coming here? Saw your little ID badge you got. Here to rat us out huh? Someone sent you to spy on us. Guess you better start talking before

Blake: Wait, wait wait! I do work for CupidFinds but It’s not what it looks like at all.
Blake explains meeting the doctor and being given the black card. After listening, the ACE society releases the straps. However, since Blake already knows who they are, they can’t walk away so they make a deal with Blake. The society can help Blake keep their job in return for leaking some information from the company.

So Blake works hard, putting on the diligent employee and gives confidential information to the society. As they operate a casino, they use the information from Blake to lure customers such as newlyweds to come and gamble to the point where it ruins their relationship. They then go to Blake who settles their divorce, allowing Blake to still do their job. This cycle repeats and Blake eventually gets promoted in the company. The casino is making tons of money and living off the allo people. People are too afraid to date and love now, allowing the ACE society to crush the general public in revenge for living in the shadows.

CupidFinds, on the other hand, is losing sales. There are not a lot of clients and the economy is thrown off. Meanwhile, Blake continues to do their job until someone in the company gets suspicious. They decided to follow Blake one night after work, leading to the casino. They trail closely and busted.

Blake and everyone in the society are arrested and thrown into jail. Blake has no idea what to do now until the doctor shows up again and bails them out on the justification that they have a disorder and were deceived by the ACE society.

Blake feels conflicted walking out while the ACE society remains detained. “Traitor. You’re just like them. In the end, you’re still the CupidFind’s dog”

Blake goes back with the doctor and they have a moment. I know what we did wasn’t sure but I had to do what I had to do. But I know now that this isn’t a disorder. And you know that. For the first time, I’m not alone anymore. There needs to be change.
The doctor asks, what do you want to do?
Blake replies, I want community.

The TV interrupts, “Breaking news everyone. The recently captured group has broken out of prison. All authorities are to be on the lookout and hunt them down. They seem to be gathering at the tower of CupidFinds. We are unsure of their motives and demand”

Blake immediately heads over to CupidFinds once again. The securities that were supposed to be guarding the CEO of the company have all been wiped out with sleeping gas. Blake barge into the office room. “Mr. Cupid! I’m here to ask for some changes to be made but before that, the ACE society is out to get you and you should go to a safe place.
Mr. Cupid is unusually quiet. Someone steps out of the shadow of the room and Blake is too late. The ACE society has already surrounded the area.

Well Well Well, Blake. We met again. You busted us out so we’re here to end it with a bang. Don’t get in our way. And this old fool, you can kiss your precious company goodbye.

Blake: Wait! This isn’t right. I’m sorry. I didn’t want to leave you all behind.

What the hell do you know? You betrayed us. In the end, you only cared about your job and kissing up to the allo people.

Now I realize that I’m not alone. I know this company is one of the factors that keeps us in the dark but destroying it isn’t gonna change anything in the long run. We won’t be any different from them in the first place.

We have been living underground, ignored, casted away by the rest of society as broken or defective. For what? Simply because we don’t need a partner.

Arrest them officers!

Mr. Cupid gets up and interrupts: “Wait! After seeing everything that has unfold before my very old eyes. I think we need to change. We have been so focused on dating and finding a partner but love isn’t just that. It is boundless. It has no shape. No form. It is for everyone, family, friends, self. I just don’t know how to integrate this change…

Blake: Mr. Cupid, if I may. I think my fellow comrades here and I can do exactly just that. Instead of serving in prison, we can dedicate our time to integrating changes to CupidFinds to make it more inclusive.

And so fast forward, we see CupidFinds having new departments opened up and more services provided that aren’t focused on dating. Blake is taking the lead to strive to incorporate queerplatonic relationships, platonic, self, so much more.

And people who are aro ace are living out in the open, not having to hide anymore.
