Once upon a time, there was a young woman called Margot who worked as a copywriter at a boring marketing firm. She was usually forced to work late hours on tasks that drained her emotionally and creatively.
She would often catch herself daydreaming about being anywhere but in the office. But most of all, she would wonder what her life would be like if she quit her job, moved to Italy and went to culinary school.

Everyday, during her free time, Margot loved creating exciting new recipes from scratch. Cooking was her biggest passion and it helped her escape the things that troubled her.
On special occasions, she liked to whip up something from her mother’s old cooking journal, her most prized possession, which contained original family recipes spanning over 100 years.

Until one day, as Margot’s preparing her nonna’s famous Tiramisù, she is visited by her grandmother’s spirit.

She soon learns that this phenomenon takes place whenever she makes a dish created by a relative who has passed. Because of that, Margot grows a strong connection to her ancestors’ stories and advice. They comfort and inspire her to go after the resources to make her dream come true, such as a scholarship.

Because of that, to get the scholarship, she must prepare an impressive and unforgettable meal to the judges. She’s confident that a traditional family recipe from her mother’s journal will do the trick! For weeks, she works late at night as hard as she can to master and learn the chosen recipe by heart.

Until one fateful Thursday, after a long stressful afternoon at work, Margot decides to go out with her friends, instead of going straight back home as usual. When she returns, she’s devastated to find the journal ruined from all the rain and hail it suffered, since she forgot to close the kitchen’s windows.
Margot is overwhelmed with guilt and anxiety for losing the magical bridge she built with her family’s past. She beats herself up for something that was out of her control and feels certain that she won’t succeed in the scholarship competition.

Nevertheless, Margot still decides to face the challenge. Knowing that she won’t be able to recreate the original recipe perfectly, she chose to take a risk and improvise!
This change is exactly what made Margot stand out from the other contestants and put her in second place!

Even though she didn’t win the full ride scholarship, she was still offered a major opportunity at a discounted price.

And ever since then, Margot had to learn that sometimes stepping out of her comfort zone and taking more risks is exactly what she needs to move forward in life. Doing things just for the sake of convenience, like working a job she dislikes, or becoming too attached to something, such as the past, can hold her back.
